Villain is a reg who I would consider TAG running at about 16/11/1.9 with a 3bet of 3%. So it really doesn't look like he's getting too out of line, and since this is all happening in relatively early position I am not to happy about my hand.

Here's my line of thinking. If I 4bet I can't really ever get away from the hand, I would be completely committed if I 4bet here, right?
Then I thought if I 4bet here villain is snap folding basically everything that I beat. I really don't think he can do anything else with AK, or even QQ, because my range is just so strong.

However I really don't like playing a big pot like this OOP, so I really don't know if I should 4bet/get it in here, just because I don't think he is getting it in with worse enough of the time.

So once that flop comes out and he pots it, I just decide to fold. I thought if he was just c-betting with air, or AK it would be closer to 1/2 pot, and I was planning on just going with it if he bet closer to that amount. However once he bet pot I really thought that he wanted to go with his hand, and since I didn't have a heart I thought folding was the best play.

  1. Wow, what a crappy spot. There are so many more combos of AK, that I like just 4-bet getting it it. You really don't think he goes with AK or QQ? While I don't mind the flat call pf, a 4-bet probably makes the hand play a little easier.

That flop is horrible. Might he have JJ, QQ, or AK w/1 heart enough to call the flop? The more I think about it, this is such a terrible spot that the fold seems fine. You're certainly not giving up much by folding.

  2. yea when I went back over it I think I need to 4bet here, especially since I'm OOP. But when I 4bet I have to go with it every time right? And then all the money we win when he has AK pays off for the times when he does have AA right?

  3. I don't think I could ever find it in myself to 4 bet fold here. I think I would feel way tooooo dirty!

  4. yea, no way 4bet fold here, I think that's terrible. And you say if he calls my 4bet I am beat, so that was my case against 4betting.

So once I don't 4bet, should I check/shove? What is my equity against his calling range?
